Kitsune Japan makes one jacket. When these are gone, they are gone.
A garment washed black cotton twill bomber with a full red fox pelt laid over the hood, quilted through the body in red gingham, and two screen printed banners on the back. Nothing else is made, and there is no second style.
Nine tailed fox. Shape shifter, trickster, night spirit. It arrives at the edge of the light wearing a shape you recognise and leaves before you decide what you saw. That is the whole brief, and it is why the wordmark never quite holds still.
Work starts with the fur, not the pattern. A pelt is measured, matched and cut around its own markings, so the hood is built to the animal rather than the animal trimmed to the hood. Colour runs pale sand at the throat to deep rust at the spine, and none of it is dyed.
Shell, lining and hood are assembled in a single sitting by one pair of hands. Banners are set by eye rather than by jig, which is why the curve of the arch sits differently on every back. Treat the variation as the signature.
Ethically sourced North American red fox, tanned and finished before assembly. Every jacket ships with the signature hang tag, numbered by hand and carrying the pelt reference for your specific hood. Fur is restricted in some places, so check before ordering.
