Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. The label is named for the animal the pieces are made from, and the fox motif runs through the brand.

Yes. Orders are taken on kitsunejapan.com over HTTPS and payment is processed by Stripe, so card numbers are never seen, handled or stored by us at any point. Every parcel ships tracked, insured, and with a signature required on delivery.

How do I pay, and do you store my card?

Accepted Answer

Card payments run through Stripe, and Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna are available where the shopper's device and country support them. We never see or store a card number. What is kept is the card brand and the last four digits, which is what appears on the receipt.

Prices are in Canadian dollars. What will I actually be charged?

Every price is in CAD and is the same in every country. Your bank converts it at their rate on the day, and some cards add a foreign transaction fee, which is charged by them and not by us.

What happens if my parcel is lost or damaged in transit?

There is an optional shipment guarantee at checkout. With it, anything lost or damaged in transit is replaced or refunded in full, with no claim form, no photographs and no waiting on the courier to decide. It does not cover theft after a parcel has been delivered and signed for, which is why signature on delivery is required on every order.

Every piece is already made, so nothing is built to order. Orders placed on a working day are dispatched the same day, and a tracking number is emailed as soon as the label is bought. Delivery is roughly two to eight business days in Canada, four to ten to the United States, and one to three weeks elsewhere.

What if the jacket does not fit?

The Fox Pelt Jacket can be exchanged for a different size within fourteen days of delivery, unworn and with tags, subject to that size being in stock. There are no refunds for a change of mind: each jacket is cut by hand from a whole pelt in very small numbers, so a returned one cannot go back into stock as new. The beanies are one size and are final sale. Anything that arrives damaged, faulty or not as ordered is put right whatever it is.

Where does Kitsune Japan ship from and to?

Parcels ship from Ontario, Canada, to anywhere we are allowed to send fur, and shipping is free on every service with no minimum order. A small number of jurisdictions restrict or prohibit fur imports, and those are blocked at the address step in checkout rather than after payment, so nobody is ever charged for an order that cannot be delivered.

Possibly, depending on your country. Parcels leave Canada, so your own customs authority may levy duty or import tax on arrival. That is charged by them, not by us, and it is not collected at checkout. Into the United States expect roughly fourteen percent of the declared value on fur apparel; into the United Kingdom and the EU expect local VAT on top of a small duty.

Is the fur real, and where does it come from?

Real, always, and never described as anything else. The hoods and the beanie crests are North American red fox, sourced through the regulated fur trade and tanned and finished before the piece is assembled. Nothing in the shop is faux, and nothing is dyed to imitate another species.

Is buying real fur legal where I live?

In most places, yes, but not everywhere. California prohibits the sale of new fur apparel, and several other jurisdictions restrict import. Checkout checks the delivery address against a maintained list and refuses before any payment is taken rather than after, so you will be told at the address step and not by customs.

How do I look after the fur?

Never machine wash it. The hood detaches so the jacket itself can be washed. Shake the pelt out and hang it to dry away from direct heat, brush it with a wide tooth comb in the direction the fur falls, and store it on a wide hanger with room to breathe.
