Real fur · Treat it like a hide, not a fabric

Care

  1. 01

    After wearing

Shake the fur out and hang the jacket on a wide hanger with room on either side. Fur crushes if it is stored pressed against other garments, and it does not fully recover.

  2. 02

    If it gets wet

Hang it to dry at room temperature, away from radiators, vents and direct sun. Heat dries the hide out and makes the guard hairs brittle. Once dry, shake the pelt again to lift it.

  3. 03

    Spot cleaning

Damp cloth and mild soap on the shell only. Work with the weave, not against it. Never put anything wet on the pelt itself.

  4. 04

    Seasonal clean

A specialist fur cleaner, once a season. Not a normal dry cleaner, their solvents strip the natural oils out of the hide and the pelt stiffens permanently.

  5. 05

    Storage

Cool, dark and breathing. Cotton garment bag, never plastic. Do not vacuum-seal, and do not hang it in direct light for months.

Never

  • Machine wash
  • Tumble dry
  • Iron the pelt
  • Hairdryer
  • Vacuum-seal
  • Ordinary dry cleaner

Wear it

None of the above means be precious with it. The shell is washed before assembly so it will bruise and fade where you move, and that is the point. The fur is the part that needs the care, the jacket itself is meant to be lived in.
